PITCHER

Stud

Tarik Skubal, Detroit Tigers at Texas Rangers ($10,500) — This is pretty simple. Among the best pitchers on Monday’s slate, Skubal has the best matchup. The Rangers struggle with left-handed pitching — 85 wRC+, .289 wOBA, .117 ISO and 23.3% K-Rate. Skubal has Cy Young winner numbers this season. There are too many beauties to list them all. Here are just a few: 31.3% K-Rate, 4.3% BB Rate, 2.53 xFIP and 0.54 HR/9. His salary is too low.

Value

Matt Waldron, San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Angels ($7,400) — All is right in baseball again. Major League Baseball isn’t Major League Baseball without a knuckleballer. Waldron filled that void. On top of that, he’s a good one. He’s the best in a decade and could be the best ever. Waldron isn’t a one-trick pony. He features his knuckleball but it’s one piece of a diverse pitch mix. Hitters can’t sit on anything. Waldron pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out eight Marlins in his last start. He’s struck out seven or more in his last three games while allowing three runs over that span.

INFIELD

Stud

Elly De La Cruz, Cincinnati Reds at Colorado Rockies ($6,500) Coors Field is known for home runs. It was known before the stadium was built. Architects designed the field with deep walls and a large outfield to account for the altitude. There are still home runs, and the large outfield meant Coors was also a double-triple paradise. An electric Elly inside-the-park home run could happen during this series.

Jonathan India, Cincinnati Reds at Colorado Rockies ($4,300) Any savings will be accepted at Colorado. It’s been a rough season for India, but it’s getting better. India has a .427 wOBA over the last week, .404 wOBA over the last two weeks and .342 wOBA over the last month. Ryan Feltner ($5,500) has a 5.61 ERA and the Rockies are projected to allow 5.4 runs — the most on the slate.

Value

Casey Schmitt, San Francisco Giants at Arizona Diamondbacks ($2,200) — Injuries have decimated the Giants’ lineup. Schmitt started at shortstop in the weekend series with the Yankees. He homered and singled in both starts (four RBIs). Ride the hot hand in a matchup with a weak pitcher — Ryne Nelson ($5,800) has a 6.02 ERA.

Trenton Brooks, San Francisco Giants at Arizona Diamondbacks ($2,500) — After eight years in the Minors, injuries forced the Giants’ hand and Brooks got the call. He earned it — .404 wOBA at Triple-A. Since 2022, he’s been an above-average hitter at the highest level of Minor League Baseball. Brooks has decent power and doesn’t strike out often.

OUTFIELD

Stud

TJ Fiedl, Cincinnati Reds at Colorado Rockies ($5,000) — Since returning from injury on Thursday, May 29, Friedl has two hits, two walks, four RBIs and a home run (Jun 2). He’ll receive the maximum at-bats in Coors as the leadoff hitter for the away team. Also, the splits are on the left-handed batter’s side against the right-handed pitcher.

Kyle Tucker, Houston Astros vs. St. Louis Cardinals ($6,300) — All eyes are on Coors as always. Paying up elsewhere is a differing DFS strategy. If you’re paying up, pay up for the best. Tucker is an AL MVP candidate — .417 wOBA, .319 ISO and 175 wRC+.

Value

Will Benson, Cincinnati Reds at Colorado Rockies ($4,400) — The knock on Benson is that he strikes out too much. Ryan Feltner is not a strikeout pitcher (18.6% K-Rate). Over the last two weeks, Benson has a .445 wOBA and .368 ISO. Bring on Coors.

Hunter Goodman, Colorado Rockies vs. Cincinnati Reds ($3,800) — His four-game hitting streak snapped on Sunday. In 15 plate appearances against left-handed pitching, Goodman has six hits — three doubles and two home runs. C Jacob Stallings ($4,200) has a place in the Rockies stack, too. He’s riding a six-game hit streak and has a .562 wOBA in 22 plate appearances vs. LHP.
