Who is Golden Brooks?

American actress, writer and producer Golden Brooks, was born in San Francisco, California USA on 1 December 1970 under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius. She’s appeared in more than 50 movies and TV series, while Golden’s perhaps still best known for her portrayal of one of the main characters Maya Denise Wilkes in the comedy series “Girlfriends”, created by Mara Brock Akil, and in which Tracee Ellis Ross and Persia White also starred. It follows the lives of four entirely different women, the series aired from 2000 to 2008 and won eight of its 37 award nominations, including a 2003 Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-Camera Series.

Golden’s parents Walter and Barbara Brooks raised her in San Francisco, and it appears that Golden’s an only child, having not spoken of having siblings; it’s believed that her mother was an elementary school teacher, and her father a businessman.

Golden grew up interested in dancing, and practiced modern dance, jazz and ballet. She was a highly active teenager, and took part in numerous activities while attending a local high school in San Francisco, as she appeared in numerous plays with her school’s drama club, as well in several theatre plays, also practiced aerobics and ran track, while she was also into creative writing.

Golden’s debut TV series appearance was in the 1996 episode “Crisis in the Love Zone” of the popular family comedy drama “The Adventures of Pete & Pete”, created by Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi, and which starred Michael C. Maronna, Danny Tamberelli and Judy Grafe. It follows the lives of brothers who are both named Pete, the series aired from 1992 to 1996, and won one of its five award nominations.

She became somewhat popular in 1998, when cast to star as CeCe Jennings in the comedy drama “Linc’s”, created by Susan Fales-Hill and Tim Reid, and which also starred Steven Williams and Georg Stanford Brown. It follows the life of the owner of Washington D.C.’s Linc’s Bar and Grill, the series aired from 1998 to 2000, and was nominated for five awards.

Golden was then invited to make a guest appearance in a couple of hit series, such as the comedies “The Parkers”, “The Jamie Foxx Show”, and the family comedy drama “Moesha”.

Golden wrote the 2007 episode “Snap Back” of the comedy series “Girlfriends”, and produced the 2017 drama movie “The White Sistas”.

Woodside in 2008, after having met him on a movie set; the pair were often seen spending time together, whether at restaurants, Los Angeles clubs or red carpet events, and Golden gave birth to their daughter Dakota Tao Brooks-Woodside on 1 September 2009. However, the two split in 2010, but it’s believed that they are both equally involved in Dakota’s upbringing.
