Hello my fellow crafters! Are you ready for another Valentine project?
In the past two weeks we have learned how to create a romantic crocheted envelope and a fun cupcake!
Today we will be creating a lovely Valentine bag to hold treats and candies!
The little bag is made of 2 panels crocheted in rows - back and front panels - sewn together.
The front panel is worked with the tapestry technique that allows you to work with 2 or more colors at the time, carrying the non-worked color inside the stitches.
In this way both sides of the work are nice and neat with no yarn tails hanging from the crocheted work.

Here's the FREE pattern!
YARN: Light (3) in Beige and White
MATERIALS: 2.5 mm Hook; Yarn Needle
DIMENSION: 5.5” x 5.5” (14 x 14 cm)
ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), chain (ch), stitch (st), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), fasten off (F/O)
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

Back Panel (beige yarn; work in rows unless otherwise instructed)
Row 1: 31 chs, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 29 sc (30); ch 1 and turn
Row 2: sc even (30); ch 1 and turn
Rows 3 - 36: repeat row #2 (30)
Row 37: 10 sc, work 2 chs and skip the next 2 sts, 6 sc, work 2 ch and skip 2 sts, 10 sc (26 sc, 4 chs); ch 1 and turn
Rows 38 - 39: repeat row #2 (30)
Do not fasten off, sc around the entire panel, working 3 sc in each corner. Fasten off and cut the yarn.
Front Panel (beige and white yarn; work in rows unless otherwise instructed)
Row 1: 31 chs, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 29 sc (30); ch 1 and turn
Row 2: sc even (30); ch 1 and turn
Rows 3 - 5: repeat row #2 (30)
Row 6: 14 sc, switch to white yarn, 2 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 14 (30); ch 1 and turn
Always work over the unworked color.
Now you’ll crochet on the wrong side of the panel. It’s important that you always keep the yarn on the wrong side and work over the unworked color as shown in the pictures below.
Row 7: 13 sc, switch to white yarn, 4 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 13 (30); ch 1 and turn [wrong side]
Row 8: 12 sc, switch to white yarn, 6 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 12 (30); ch 1 and turn
Row 9: 11 sc, switch to white yarn, 8 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 11 (30); ch 1 and turn [wrong side]
Row 10: 10 sc, switch to white yarn, 10 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 10 (30); ch 1 and turn
Row 11: repeat row #10 (30); ch 1 and turn [wrong side]
Row 12: 9 sc, switch to white yarn, 12 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 9 (30); ch 1 and turn
Row 13: repeat row #12 (30); ch 1 and turn [wrong side]
Row 14: 8 sc, switch to white yarn, 14 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 8 (30); ch 1 and turn
Row 15: 7 sc, switch to white yarn, 16 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 7 (30); ch 1 and turn [wrong side]
Row 16: repeat row #15 (30); ch 1 and turn
Row 17: repeat row #15 (30); ch 1 and turn [wrong side]
Row 18: repeat row #15 (30); ch 1 and turn
Row 19: repeat row #15 (30); ch 1 and turn [wrong side]
Row 20: 8 sc, switch to white yarn, 14 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 8 (30); ch 1 and turn
Row 21: 9 sc, switch to white yarn, 5 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 2 sc, switch to white yarn, 5 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 9 sc (30); ch 1 and turn [wrong side]
Row 22: 10 sc, switch to white yarn, 3 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 4 sc, switch to white yarn, 3 sc, switch back to beige yarn, 10 sc (30); ch 1 and turn
Row 23: working with beige yarn only, 30 sc (30); ch 1 and turn
Rows 24 - 27: 30 sc (30); ch 1 and turn
Row 28: 10 sc, work 2 chs and skip the next 2 sts, 6 sc, work 2 ch and skip 2 sts, 10 sc (26 sc, 4 chs); ch 1 and turn
Rows 29 - 31: 30 sc (30); ch 1 and turn
Row 32: 30 sc (30)
Do not fasten off, sc around the entire panel, working 3 sc in each corner.
Fasten off and leave a long strand of beige yarn to sew the two panel together.
Place the front panel on top of the back one so that the 1st rows of both panels are in line.
Sew across the left, bottom, and right sides, leaving the top side open.
Ribbon (white yarn)
Crochet multiple chains tightly (approximately 200); F/O and cut the yarn.
Insert the ribbon through the 4 chains spaces and use it to close the bag.
